Red Chillies Entertainment is an Indian film production and distribution company established by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan in 2003. It was transformed from the defunct Dreamz Unlimited.
Red Chillies Entertainment has formed a full-fledged film studio in India. The studio’s activities span across creative development, production, marketing, distribution, licensing, merchandising and syndication of films in India and worldwide.[2] They are also a premier visual effects company. Throughout the last several years, Red Chillies has acquired the rights to several Bollywood films.
Apart from film production, RCE has a visual effects studio known as Red Chillies VFX, which is considered as India’s leading visual effects company.[3] The company also has a 55% stake in the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight RidersTrinbago Knight Riders of Caribbean Premier League and Cape town Knight Riders[4] of T20 Global League.
Sanjiv Chawla was the former CEO of the company, while Gauri Khan serves as a producer. In February 2013, Venky Mysore, the CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders took over additional responsibility as chief of Red Chillies Entertainment as well.[5][6]

On March 29, 2013, Prana Studios affiliate 34×118 Holdings, LLC won the bidding of Rhythm and Hues Studios in a bankruptcy auction against other visual effects/CGI animation studios, Prime Focus and Brave Vision. Another contender, Psyop, was eliminated early in the process.[5] The sale was “valued at about $30 million.”[6]

Mike Luckwell sold MPC to Carlton Communications in 1983 and in doing so; he became Carlton’s managing director and largest individual shareholder. During Carlton’s 2004 merger with Granada to create ITV London, they sold MPC to French group Thomson SA for £52.7 million. Following the acquisition, Thomson, now known as Technicolor SA, aimed to make MPC grow by acquiring more film work. By the end of the decade MPC was one of the leading visual effects companies.[4]
